Therapixel vs Vara
Updated October 23, 2026
Screening programs read huge numbers of mammograms that turn out normal, and radiologist shortages have pushed them toward AI that can carry part of that load. Therapixel and Vara both build breast screening AI for different settings: Therapixel's MammoScreen supports radiologists as they read standard and tomosynthesis exams, while Vara sells a full screening platform to European programs and can now report clearly normal exams without a radiologist. Geography settles the question for many sites, because Vara is not sold in the US.
Our analysts compared Therapixel and Vara on what each product does, where it is sold, handling of normal exams, detection results, and workflow fit, using the HIR review of each company and each vendor's own site. In the following sections, we compare them in one table, describe the program each one suits, and note the certification Vara received in September.
