NexHealth

Alamin Uddin is co-founder and chief executive of NexHealth, a San Francisco company that makes booking, reminder, and intake software for dental and outpatient practices. A practice uses it so its patients can book online and the appointment lands in its own schedule.

Meeting Waleed Asif at City College

He is the son of immigrant parents and learned to code from YouTube videos in high school. He studied at the City College of New York, where he met Waleed Asif. While weighing medical school, he worked weekends as a receptionist at a professor's practice in the Bronx, New York.

Building NexHealth

At the front desk he saw how much of the day went to phone calls and paper. When he tried to connect software to an EHR, eClinicalWorks quoted $40,000 for API access, so NexHealth built its own connections into practice systems. He and Asif founded NexHealth in 2017 and found early customers by walking into dental offices in Soho. Its first $391,000 came from professors and customers. By early 2018 NexHealth was down to $4,000 in the bank and a maxed-out American Express card, until a 12-location customer in Detroit, Michigan, prepaid $36,000 that February. That year he and Asif were named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

NexHealth now works with more than 10,000 practice locations, and its Synchronizer API connects developers to practice management systems. In April 2022 it raised a $125 million Series C led by Buckley Ventures at a $1 billion valuation.
