Founder

Valant

David Lischner is a psychiatrist and the founder of Valant, a Seattle, Washington company that makes electronic health record software for behavioral health practices. He built it because the generic record systems he used did not fit how mental health care works.

Running a Seattle Treatment Center

He practiced psychiatry and ran Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle.

Founding Valant

In 2005 he founded Valant with his brother Ben Lischner, a former software developer at AT&T Wireless. Its software gives therapists and psychiatrists notes, treatment plans, outcome measures, scheduling, and billing designed for behavioral health. By 2023 it served more than 22,000 behavioral health professionals in all 50 states.

He led Valant as chief executive until October 2020, when Ram Krishnan took over and he moved to a role focused on business development, product strategy, and innovation.
