Practice Better

Nathalie Garcia is a holistic nutritionist and the co-founder of Practice Better, a Toronto, Ontario, practice management platform used by dietitians, nutritionists, health coaches and other wellness practitioners.

Finding Nutrition

Garcia came to nutrition after watching someone she loved get sick. "I felt helpless and started reading about nutrition to try and make a difference", she said. She could not help her loved one, but the changes transformed her own health, and she trained as a holistic nutritionist to help others.

A Tool for Her Own Practice

Running her own practice, she found that every new client added hours of scheduling, billing and follow-up, cutting her hourly rate and limiting how many people she could see. "My co-founder Graeme and I created Practice Better to solve my own problem", she said. The pair planned, built and tested the product from 2014 and launched it at the end of 2016.

She led Practice Better as chief executive through its early growth, building booking, telehealth, charting, programs and payments into one product for wellness practitioners. She has spoken openly about self-doubt as a first-time founder and about wanting more women to build technology companies.

Handing Over the Top Job

In May 2023, after a $27 million investment led by Five Elms Capital, Garcia handed the chief executive role to Kim Walsh, a former HubSpot executive, and became chief strategy officer, advising on product strategy and carrying the voice of customers across the company. Practice Better now serves more than 50,000 practitioners in over 40 countries.

Personal Life

Garcia is a mother of two daughters.
