Nizan Friedman

Co-founder and CEO

Tenovi

Nizan Friedman is co-founder and chief executive of Tenovi, a Portsmouth, New Hampshire company that makes a cellular hub and connected devices for remote patient monitoring. The hub sends readings from blood pressure cuffs, scales, and other devices to a care team without Wi-Fi or a phone app, which helps older patients who have trouble keeping an app paired with a device.

Early life

He grew up in Connecticut. He earned a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering at the University of California, Irvine, where he met Dan Zondervan, who was earning a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering.

Business

At Irvine he worked on MusicGlove, a sensor glove that turns hand-grip exercises into a music game, so stroke survivors keep practicing and their therapists can measure progress. He and Zondervan founded Flint Rehab to sell it and other rehabilitation devices, and he served as its chief executive.

They founded Tenovi in 2020 to take the same connected-device approach into chronic disease care. He runs the company from its office on Cate Street in Portsmouth, and Zondervan, Tenovi's chief technology officer, oversees manufacturing in Irvine. Its Gateway hub and Smart Pillbox, which reports when a patient opens a compartment, came out of that work.

Tenovi ranked No. 55 on the 2025 Inc. 5000 list of fast-growing private companies. "Too many patients wait months between visits, and those delays create dangerous gaps in care," he said at the time.
