Methinks AI
Pau Rodríguez is chief executive of Methinks AI, a Barcelona, Spain company whose software looks for blocked brain arteries and bleeding on non-contrast CT, the basic scan almost every hospital can do. Hospitals use it so their stroke teams can spot patients who need urgent treatment without waiting for more advanced imaging.
Education and early career
He trained as an industrial engineer and earned an MBA from SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, Italy. He also played rugby professionally. "In rugby everyone has a different profile, you work as a team and it's important to trust your teammates," he told Biocat, the life sciences organization of Catalonia. "It's similar to entrepreneurship."
After the MBA he spent a couple of years at an Italian biotechnology start-up, then moved back to Barcelona to look for a healthcare company built on technology where he could be a partner.
Business
He called joining Methinks, founded by Cristian Martí, the most important strategic decision he has made. Martí, asked for a good idea he had had, named persuading Rodríguez to become chief executive. Asked what he wished he had known before starting, Rodríguez said: "How psychologically demanding it would be."
In that interview he named finishing the regulatory process in the United States and the European Union as his next goal. Methinks NCCT Stroke received FDA 510(k) clearance in July 2025, and Methinks CTA Stroke followed in October 2025. In March 2025 Medtronic signed a partnership to bring Methinks to hospitals in Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Türkiye, and the Middle East.

He is a member of the Spanish chapter of the Club of Rome, a group that works on long-term problems facing humanity.
