Welter Healthcare Partners
Todd Welter is the chairman and chief executive of Welter Healthcare Partners, a Colorado firm that handles credentialing, billing, coding, and contracting for healthcare organizations. He has spent more than 40 years on the business side of medicine.
Early career
Before founding his own firm, Welter worked in hospitals, insurance companies, and independent practice associations. He was the Colorado representative for Medical Information Systems, a national medical consulting firm based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and supervised its other representatives.
From RT Welter and Associates
Welter founded RT Welter and Associates in Arvada, Colorado, and by 2023 the firm had served clients for more than three decades. On July 1, 2023, it became Welter Healthcare Partners, and Welter moved into the chairman and CEO role while an executive team took over daily operations. The firm earned NCQA certification as a credentials verification organization in April 2024, adding to its URAC accreditation.
Coding and reimbursement
Welter is a Certified Professional Coder and a former member of the MGMA Health Care Consulting Group, which called on him to help members with coding and reimbursement questions. He belongs to the American Academy of Professional Coders and the Healthcare Compliance Association. He speaks to local, national, and international audiences on coding, managed care contracting, and practice finances.
Teaching health care leadership
Welter holds a master's degree in organizational leadership from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, where he has been affiliate faculty in the School for Professional Studies for more than ten years. At the University of Denver's University College, he teaches graduate courses in Macro Economics in Health Care and in Innovative Strategies and Change in Health Care.
