Trey Holterman
Co-founder and CEO
Tennr
Trey Holterman is co-founder and chief executive of Tennr, a New York City company whose software reads incoming patient referrals and gets them ready to schedule. A specialty practice uses it so its staff stop retyping faxed referrals and chasing missing insurance details.
Rowing and Computer Science at Stanford
He studied computer science at Stanford University, where he was a teaching assistant and rowed on the varsity crew.
Early Engineering Jobs
He worked as a software engineer at Health IQ, a Medicare platform, in 2019 and then at Strava, the fitness app, from 2020 to 2021.
Co-founding Tennr
He founded Tennr in 2021 with Tyler Johnson and Diego Baugh, whom he met at Stanford working on AI research. His mother, a family medicine doctor, had complained to him about referrals for years, and he has joked that he should have listened to her sooner. Tennr trained its own model on tens of millions of medical documents so it could read referrals, including doctors' handwriting.
In June 2025 Tennr raised a $101 million Series C led by IVP. Holterman told Fortune its revenue had reached eight figures, three times its level at the Series B eight months earlier.
