Founder and CEO

CARPL.ai

Dr. Vidur Mahajan is a physician and the founder and chief executive of CARPL.ai, a radiology AI platform that lets hospitals find, test, deploy and monitor imaging AI from many developers through one connection.

A Family Radiology Business

Mahajan earned his medical degree at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College in Mumbai, India, and an MBA with majors in finance and health care management from the Wharton School. He then joined Mahajan Imaging, the radiology group in India built by his father, Dr. Harsh Mahajan, a radiologist, and spent about a decade helping it grow tenfold.

He also ran CARING, the Centre for Advanced Research on Imaging, Neuroscience and Genomics, the group's research arm. CARING worked with more than 35 research groups around the world, published more than 100 academic and conference papers on AI, and produced the first paper on AI to appear in The Lancet.

Testing AI at Mahajan Imaging

Validating and deploying AI tools at Mahajan Imaging showed him how fragmented the field was. "The more I worked with the top AI companies across the world, the more I realized that AI solutions were being built in niches", he said, with separate tools for brain stroke, chest tuberculosis, lung cancer and prostate cancer that providers struggled to pick and onboard.

His father helped him shape the idea for CARPL, a single place where providers could discover, explore, validate and deploy imaging AI. The company launched in 2021.

Leading CARPL.ai

CARPL now offers more than 300 AI apps from over 100 developers and works with four of the five largest private radiology groups in the world, along with governments in Brazil, India, Singapore, Spain and the UAE. In July 2026 it raised a $10 million Series A led by the International Finance Corporation.

"Our mission is to ensure that clinicians can confidently utilize the absolute best AI technology available for their patients", Mahajan said. He plans to take CARPL beyond imaging into pathology, genomics and general medicine.
