Eagle Telemedicine
Eagle Telemedicine is a company based in Atlanta, Georgia, that supplies hospitals with physicians by video, including night hospitalists and specialists in about 20 fields.
Strong fit
- Community and rural hospitals that need night hospitalist coverage
- Hospitals that want neurology, cardiology and other specialists by video
- Hospitals that want to keep more patients instead of transferring them
Weak fit
- Large academic centers with full in-house specialist coverage
- Hospitals that want software only, without contracted physicians
- Buyers who need a posted price
Bottom line
Eagle Telemedicine suits community and rural hospitals that need night hospitalist coverage or specialists they cannot hire, delivered by its own physicians. Its long track record with small hospitals is the main draw. Hospitals should check physician continuity and response times in their contract and get a full quote.

Eagle Telemedicine was founded in 2008 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. It began by serving rural hospitals and now works with hospitals of every size. Jason Povio has been chief executive since December 2023, and Dr. Talbot McCormick is chief physician executive.
Its best-known service is the TeleHospitalist and TeleNocturnist program, where Eagle physicians admit and care for inpatients by video overnight or when local hospitalists are short. The bedside nurse or a cart brings the physician into the room, and Eagle works within the hospital's existing equipment and EHR.
Eagle has a virtual team of more than 450 physicians in about 20 specialties, including neurology, cardiology, critical care, nephrology, psychiatry and pulmonology. In 2026 Mahaska Health in Oskaloosa, Iowa, added Eagle neurology for strokes and other emergencies, inpatient consults, outpatient visits and EEG testing.
Its Rural Care Alliance groups smaller hospitals together so they can afford specialty programs they could not fund alone. Eagle's pitch to hospitals is more admissions, fewer transfers and less money spent on locum physicians.
Eagle does not post prices and publishes few outcome figures, so buyers should ask for results from hospitals like theirs and call those references before signing.
Equum Medical fits hospitals that want virtual nursing and physician coverage from one partner. TeleSpecialists and Sevaro fit hospitals that mainly need telestroke and teleneurology.
