Smart Meter vs Tenovi

Remote monitoring companies and health systems that run their own monitoring software, and need devices patients can use at home, often compare Smart Meter and Tenovi. Both send readings over cellular networks, so patients do not need Wi-Fi, a phone app, or Bluetooth pairing. Smart Meter builds a cellular connection into each blood pressure cuff, glucose meter, pulse oximeter, and scale it makes. Tenovi sells a plug-in cellular hub that picks up readings from more than 60 Bluetooth devices in the home.

Verdict

Smart Meter is for a monitoring program centered on blood pressure and diabetes that wants each device to work out of the box with no hub, and wants test strips refilled automatically. Tenovi is for a program that wants many brands of devices, plus a pillbox that reports doses, behind one cellular hub and an API.

Walk away from both if you want a vendor to run the whole program with its own nurses, since both sell devices and data to teams that have their own software and staff. Walk away from Smart Meter if your patients use continuous glucose monitors.
