Assort Health

Jeffery Liu is founder and co-chief executive of Assort Health, a San Francisco company that makes AI voice agents for specialty medical practices. A software engineer from Northern Virginia who worked at Meta and on clinical AI before Assort, he leads the product and technology behind agents that schedule patients by each practice's own rules.

Northern Virginia and Duke

He grew up in Northern Virginia wanting to be a fighter pilot, and in high school he volunteered at a hospital moving patients. He entered Duke University as a biomedical engineering pre-med student, then switched to computer science because he found he was stronger at building logical systems than at memorizing coursework.

Meta, Cameo, and an AI scribe

He was a senior software engineer at Meta and part of the early engineering team at Cameo, the app that sells personalized video messages from celebrities. He then became head of product engineering at Athelas and Commure, where he helped lead an AI scribe used by more than 100,000 physicians.

Building Assort Health

A venture capitalist introduced him to Jon Wang by cold email, and the two started working together while Wang was in New York and Liu in San Francisco. Assort started in orthopedics, one of the hardest specialties to schedule because surgeons often see only certain conditions. In late 2023 the small team rented an Airbnb in Chicago to get its first agent ready for a customer there, working closely with Epic. On day one the agent resolved about 55 percent of calls without a person, and that rate later rose above 95 percent.

He leads Assort's product and technology organization. "Most 'voice AI' is a prompt thrown into a voice pipeline," he told Fierce Healthcare in 2025.

In June 2026 Assort raised a $120 million Series C led by Menlo Ventures at a $1.2 billion valuation, bringing its total funding to more than $222 million.
