Co-founder and CEO

Midi Health

Joanna Strober is co-founder and chief executive of Midi Health, a virtual clinic for women in perimenopause, menopause, and midlife. A former private equity and venture investor, she earlier founded Kurbo, a digital program for childhood obesity that she sold to Weight Watchers, and she co-wrote a book on how working couples share careers and family life.

Two Decades in Private Equity and Venture Capital

Before she built companies, Strober spent more than 20 years investing in health and consumer businesses, according to her Midi team page, including consumer internet companies such as Blue Nile, eToys, BabyCenter, HotJobs, and Flycast. Her author bio describes her as a former partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, where she made consumer internet investments, and a former managing director at an investment firm where she ran a private equity fund.

She holds a B.A. in political science from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from UCLA.

Founding Kurbo

Her first company, Kurbo, built a platform and tools to help fight and prevent childhood obesity, and Midi describes it as the first digital therapeutic for the condition. Strober sold Kurbo to Weight Watchers.

Writing Getting to 50/50

With Sharon Meers, who later co-founded Midi with her, Strober wrote Getting to 50/50, a primer on how women can succeed and thrive at work and at home. She has spoken widely to corporate and graduate school audiences about women and leadership.

Building Midi Health

On Midi's Our Story page, Strober writes: “When I founded Midi, I thought I was starting a menopause company. Very quickly, I saw a far bigger need: a broken system with a shortage of primary care and specialist doctors.”

Midi now bills insurance nationwide and treats conditions from hot flashes to urinary tract infections. When the company announced a $100 million Series D in February 2026, valuing it above $1 billion, she said: “Women’s health has been treated like an afterthought for too long. This funding gives us the resources to rewrite that story at scale.”
