Strong fit

  • Radiology and pathology groups that dictate reports into RIS, LIS or EHR systems
  • Health systems in India, the Middle East and the UK that need on-premises or local hosting

Weak fit

  • Buyers who need independent accuracy studies
  • Buyers who need a posted price

Bottom line

Augnito is a reasonable choice for hospitals and reporting-heavy specialties that want medical dictation and an ambient scribe together, with cloud or on-premises hosting. Its long transcription history and wide language support help outside the US. US clinics comparing ambient scribes will find more published evidence elsewhere.

Rustom Lawyer and Shiraz Austin founded Augnito in Mumbai in 2020, turning the speech technology of Scribetech, the medical transcription company they had run for the UK's NHS since 2004, into a voice AI business. Lawyer is chief executive.

Spectra is the dictation product. Clinicians speak reports and notes into the EHR, RIS or LIS with no voice training, use voice commands to fill templates and add their own terms and macros. Augnito says it covers more than 55 specialties and connects to Epic and Oracle Health systems.

Omni is the ambient side. Its AI scribe listens to the visit in more than 37 languages and drafts the note, and add-ons check documentation for gaps and suggest ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED and SBS codes. Both products can run in the cloud or on a hospital's own servers.

Augnito says more than 500 hospitals and 15,000 clinicians use it, with customers including Hexarad, a UK teleradiology group, and health bodies in the UAE. It claims doctors save more than two hours a day and cut documentation time by 60%, but these are its own figures.

Augnito does not post prices, and independent studies of its accuracy are hard to find. US buyers should test it against ambient scribes with more local references.

Tandem Health fits European clinicians who want an ambient scribe certified as a medical device under EU MDR. Lyrebird Health fits clinics in Australia and New Zealand that want notes and letters written into their records system, and Tali AI fits Canadian clinics that want a scribe and dictation tool with published prices.
