Clinical systems · AI medical scribe for European clinicians
Tandem Health
Tandem Health is a company based in Stockholm, Sweden, whose AI scribe writes clinical notes and suggests codes for European clinicians, certified under EU MDR as a Class IIa medical device.
Strong fit
- European clinics and hospitals that need an AI scribe certified under EU MDR
- NHS practices, including those that use Accurx
- Clinicians who want to try an AI scribe free before buying
Weak fit
- US health systems, since Tandem focuses on Europe
- Organizations that want a scribe built into Epic in the US
- Buyers who want long-run outcome data beyond documentation time
Bottom line
Tandem Health is a strong choice for European clinics and hospitals that want an AI scribe with EU MDR Class IIa certification, coding help and links to many European record systems. Individual clinicians can start free. US buyers should look elsewhere.

Lukas Saari, Oscar Boldt-Christmas and Oliver Åstrand founded Tandem Health in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2023, with Saari as chief executive. Saari and Boldt-Christmas came from McKinsey's healthcare practice, and Åstrand built AI at Google X and Uber. Tandem raised a $50 million Series A led by Kinnevik in June 2025 and has offices in more than 10 European cities.
Tandem listens to the visit, writes the clinical note, referral letters and sick notes, and suggests diagnosis and procedure codes such as ICD-10 and SNOMED. Clinicians can edit the note by voice and send it to the record in one click. It supports more than 50 specialties, keeps data in European data centers and deletes the audio after transcription.
Its AI scribe and coding assistant are certified as Class IIa medical devices under EU MDR after review by a notified body. Tandem says the scribe was the first in Europe to reach that class, which matters in countries such as Sweden that treat documentation AI as a medical device.
Through a partnership with Accurx, Tandem's scribe is offered to more than 200,000 NHS staff as Accurx Scribe. Tandem says more than 5,000 care organizations use it and that it links to more than 100 European record systems. A peer-reviewed study in JMIR Medical Informatics looked at 236,153 notes in a European health system.
Tandem is built for Europe and has no US presence. Large customers should confirm that their record system takes one-click transfer before rollout.
Heidi Health fits clinicians in the UK, Australia and other markets who want a low-cost AI scribe. Nabla fits health systems in Europe and the US that want an ambient scribe, and Lyrebird Health fits Australian and New Zealand practices.
