Strong fit
- Dietitians, nutritionists and health coaches who run their own practice
- Functional medicine and integrative practices that sell programs and packages
- Small teams that want booking, telehealth, charting and payments in one app with posted prices
Weak fit
- Medical groups that bill insurance at volume
- Clinics that need a full EHR for prescriptions and labs at scale
- Large organizations that need enterprise integrations
Bottom line
Practice Better is a strong choice for dietitians, nutritionists, health coaches and other wellness practitioners who want one app to run the business and engage clients between visits. Its posted prices, free plan and fast setup are clear advantages. Practices that live on insurance billing should look at a fuller medical platform.

Nathalie Garcia, a holistic nutritionist, and her partner Graeme founded Practice Better in Toronto, Ontario, and launched it in 2016 after struggling to run her own practice. Kim Walsh, formerly of HubSpot, became chief executive in 2023, when the company raised $27 million led by Five Elms Capital.
The platform covers booking, a client portal, telehealth, intake forms, charting, invoicing and payments, plus online programs, group sessions and packages that practitioners sell to many clients at once. Clients log food, symptoms and progress in a mobile app between visits.
In 2023 Practice Better bought That Clean Life, a Toronto meal planning company, and its meal plans and recipe tools are built in. It also handles insurance claims and superbills, and AI dictation turns sessions into draft notes for review.
More than 50,000 practitioners use Practice Better. Setup can take as little as 30 minutes, and the Team plan includes free data migration.
Practice Better is built for wellness, nutrition and integrative practices. Medical groups that bill insurance at volume or need deep lab and prescribing tools will want a fuller EHR.
Healthie fits digital health companies and practices that want a telehealth EHR with APIs to build their own patient experience.
