Bottom line

Videa is a strong fit for dental groups that want FDA-cleared X-ray detection, voice notes and insurance tools across many offices, with published study results behind it. Independent practices can now buy it too, though its track record is with large groups. Every buyer will need a quote.

Florian Hillen founded Videa in 2018 out of research he did at MIT, where the project was first called Delta V. Hillen studied medicine in Germany before his MIT degrees and is chief executive. The company, known as VideaHealth until April 2026, is based in Boston and raised a $40 million Series B in January 2025.

Videa reads dental X-rays and flags decay, bone loss and other disease, with more than 30 FDA-cleared detection models. Its 2025 clearance covers patients from age 3 to 21, so pediatric groups can use it. In the FDA study for its caries tool, dentists using it missed 43% fewer cavities and made 15% fewer false calls.

Beyond detection, the platform includes Voice Notes, which turns the visit conversation into a chart-ready note, a daily dashboard, practice insights, AutoVerify for insurance checks and Clean Claims, which attaches X-rays and narratives to claims. Videa says Voice Notes saves clinicians one to two hours a day.

Videa says more than 90,000 clinicians use it, including 8 of the 10 largest dental support organizations in North America, and that it reads more than 500 million X-rays a year. In April 2026 it renamed itself and opened its platform to independent practices, and in October 2026 it became the first AI partner built into ClearDent Imaging for Canadian practices.

Videa does not post prices, and it has less history with single offices than with large groups. Independent practices should ask for references from offices their size.

Overjet fits groups that want X-ray AI tied to imaging software, voice charting and payer claim review. Pearl fits practices that want FDA-cleared AI for both 2D X-rays and 3D scans.
