David Arnett
Co-founder and President
DentiMax
David Arnett is co-founder and president of DentiMax, in Mesa, Arizona. DentiMax sells practice-management software and digital X-ray sensors to dental offices, so a practice can schedule the day, chart the visit, and capture a digital X-ray of a tooth.
Early life
He was the ninth employee at Lytec Systems, which made medical and dental practice-management software. After he left, he opened dental offices in Arizona, a state where someone who is not a dentist can own a practice. He holds an MBA.
Business
In 2003 he met Lee Varney, then head developer at Medisoft, to talk about dental software that would be easier to use than what was on the market. They started DentiMax in 2004. The software was meant to cost less than the systems offices were buying at the time.
Dentists who tried the software kept asking about digital sensors. The sensors then on the market were expensive, and Arnett has said the image quality was not that good, so DentiMax began selling its own. He has said the company made the sensor and the software open on purpose, so a practice can use the sensor with imaging programs from other companies. The Dream Sensor is one of those intraoral sensors. It captures a digital X-ray of the tooth at the chair.
Personal
In August 2023 he traveled to Apia, in Samoa, and gave DentiMax sensors, laptops, and software to the Samoan government and to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
