Rad AI
Jeff Chang, MD, is a co-founder of Rad AI and its president. Rad AI Impressions, the company's first product, drafts the impression section of a radiology report, the short conclusion the ordering doctor reads, in the wording the radiologist prefers. The draft is meant to take that repetitive writing off a shift full of studies.
Early life
He started medical school at New York University at 16. He completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal MRI, then worked for 10 years as an overnight emergency radiologist.
Business
Rising imaging volume, burnout, and little software to help the person reading the study led him into graduate work in machine learning. He met Doktor Gurson, who had started technology companies, and they founded Rad AI in 2018. He said, "We help radiology groups significantly increase productivity, while reducing radiologist burnout and improving report accuracy."
Rad AI says it now works with more than 40 percent of U.S. health systems and with 9 of the 10 largest U.S. radiology practices. It trains generative models for radiology on a large private collection of reports.
