Judy Faulkner founded Epic Systems in 1979 and still runs the company that supplies electronic health records to a large share of U.S. academic medical centers and multi-hospital systems. Clinicians and IT leaders live inside Epic workflows every day, which means adjacent products usually win or lose based on how well they write back into that environment.
Her influence shows up less in conference keynotes and more in RFP language: buyers ask whether a new tool is Epic-native, App Orchard listed, or stuck as a sidecar. For health tech builders, that is the commercial reality her company created.
