Manoj Ramachandran is a co-founder of Viz.ai, which flags a suspected stroke on a scan and alerts the specialist. He is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Barts Health in London.
Early life
He qualified from King's College School of Medicine in London with honors and was proxime accessit to the University of London Gold Medal. He trained in surgery on the Oxford and Hammersmith rotations, then on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital rotation at Stanmore, and he completed fellowships in pediatric orthopedics in Sydney, Los Angeles, and Stanmore.
Business
In 2007 he joined the Royal London and Barts as a consultant orthopedic and trauma surgeon for children and young adults. He leads pediatric orthopedics there and is director of informatics and innovation for surgery. He has written 16 textbooks and more than 80 peer-reviewed papers, and he is an honorary reader at Queen Mary University of London.
In 2016 he co-founded Viz.ai with neurosurgeon Chris Mansi and machine-learning researcher David Golan. Globes reported that the three started the company so a scan could be compared with a large set of earlier scans and a pattern could reach the clinician sooner.
Personal
He lives in St Albans with his wife, Jo, and their daughters, Isabel and Mia.
