Hyperfine
Sainz is trying to make brain MRI available at the bedside and in clinics, so patients do not have to wait on a conventional scanner room.
A Career of Medtech CEO Roles
Maria Sainz is president and chief executive of Hyperfine, a publicly traded company whose Swoop system is a portable MRI for the brain. She has spent about thirty years in medical technology leadership.
Before Hyperfine she was president and CEO of AEGEA Medical, which CooperSurgical acquired in 2021, of Cardiokinetix, and of Concentric Medical, which Stryker acquired in 2011, according to her Hyperfine biography and the October 2022 appointment release. Earlier she held senior roles at Guidant and Boston Scientific. She holds master's degrees from Complutense University of Madrid and the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Taking the Helm at Hyperfine
Hyperfine named Sainz CEO effective October 24, 2022, after she had served on its board since the company listed on Nasdaq. "I am excited and honored to lead the next phase of Hyperfine's growth as we broaden the adoption of Swoop technology, improving access to MR imaging around the world," she said in the announcement.
Under her watch the company has pushed hospital, office-based, and international sales. In October 2026 she reported preliminary third-quarter revenue of about $6.0 million and reaffirmed full-year guidance of about $20 million to $22 million, citing Model 2 Swoop rollout abroad and broader use in wellness and mobile settings.
