Nikhil Buduma is co-founder and chief executive of Ambience Healthcare, which drafts the note and the codes from a visit. He wrote Fundamentals of Deep Learning, an early textbook on modern neural networks, and he became chief executive in September 2025.
Early life
At 16 he managed a drug discovery laboratory at San Jose State University and worked on low-cost screening methods. By 19 he had competed twice at the International Biology Olympiad. He earned a bachelor's degree and a master of engineering in computer science at MIT. There he co-founded Lean On Me, a text hotline students use to reach a peer.
Business
He co-founded Remedy, a San Francisco company building data-driven primary care, and he wrote Fundamentals of Deep Learning for O'Reilly.
In 2020 he and Mike Ng founded Ambience Healthcare in San Francisco so the note would come from the encounter rather than from typing after it. He was chief scientist. On September 22, 2025, the company said he would become chief executive and that Ng would become president and chairman.
