Early life
He served in the Marine Corps. At 21 he built one of the first medical practice management systems. In 1994 he founded NextGen Healthcare, an electronic health record for physician offices. From 2009 to 2011 he was president and chief strategy officer of Quality Systems, the public company that owned NextGen.

Lightbeam's software builds a combined patient record and shows gaps in care, so its users can follow up. The company is based in Dallas, Texas.
