PatientFi
Todd Watts is the co-founder and chief executive of PatientFi, an Irvine, California, company that helps elective healthcare practices offer monthly payment plans. He built it after advising healthcare companies on Wall Street and running a medical credit operation.
Wall Street and Medical Credit
Watts worked at J.P. Morgan advising consumer, healthcare, and retail companies on capital raising and risk management, according to the Orange County Business Journal's OC500 2025 profile. He later was senior vice president and head of operations at Alphaeon Credit in Newport Beach, which financed health procedures.
Founding PatientFi in Irvine
He co-founded PatientFi in 2017 with a small team in Irvine. The OC500 profile said the company had grown to about 130 employees, helped roughly 320,000 patients qualify for more than $3 billion in out-of-pocket care, and reached a $140 million annual revenue run rate.
"Like anybody else who wants to do something that's going to really make a big impact, you have to make a big jump," Watts told the Business Journal.
Expanding Beyond Aesthetics
PatientFi has raised about $100 million, including a $35 million Series B. Watts has pushed into fertility, dentistry, and ophthalmology, extended a LaserAway partnership across 143 US clinics, and continued building Privi, an aesthetics membership product, according to the same profile. He received the Business Journal's Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award in 2025.
