Theator

Wolf believes surgery will not improve at scale until the operative record reflects what happened on video, not what a surgeon remembers later.

Physician Scientist and Founder

Tamir Wolf is a physician scientist and the co-founder and chief executive of Theator, a company that uses computer vision on surgical video to draft operative reports and surface procedure insights. He earned an MD and a PhD in cardiovascular physiology at the Technion and served as a medical officer in Israel's Navy SEAL unit, according to public speaker biographies.

He co-founded Theator in 2018 around a simple gap: operating rooms already record video, but the official record is still typed from memory hours later.

Building Surgical Intelligence

Wolf has pushed Theator from research collaborations into enterprise deployments at health systems including Mayo Clinic and UHealth Miami. When Oracle Health partnered with Theator in June 2026, he said, "This partnership changes the architecture of how surgical data enters the health record," in the joint release, arguing that structured surgical data unlocks quality benchmarking and safety intelligence beyond the note itself.

A Mayo Clinic study in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons supported the core claim that video-based AI reports can beat memory-based notes on accuracy.
